got me a problem... step inside and give me a hand! :)
ok... after doing the work in a couple of hours friday, i put a clear mr gasket fuel filter in and finally got my 1 inch phenolic (black plastic) carb spacer in. BIG difference, like i would liek to see dyno numbers... much better throttle responce and better though the entire rpm range.
anyways, here is my problem. run the motor through 1st gear, fine, maybe a hesitatioon here or there. hit second, and about 3000, or somehwere around there, and not consistant in the degree of problem, its like some one is shutting off and turning on my ignition. sometimes, it wont stop bogging or sputtering until i let off the gas. it will also do it in third, if i get there!
so anyways, with out answering my own question, could the module be bad? when it is cold it is fine. all the electrical connections are fine, it sets no codes. it does do it when it is hot, and been driven for some time, meaning the motor has been fully saturated with heat. keep in mind this car had an alternator not too long ago throw out 18 volts... it hasnt seemed to damage anything thus far, but my idle has been particualarly lumpy and over all rough lately. ran cleaner through the fuel system, not that. it got new plugs, wires, cap and rotor and a HO coil about 25k ago... it shouldnt need another cap or rotor yet should it?? anyways, any help would be appreciated, i have an extra module i might throw in it.

It doesn't sound ignition relatd to me. Especially not your module...they just go completely when they go. I'd say it's a carb/tuning problem, but I don't really know enough about Q-junks to help....sorry.
FB,
Umm, 25,000 on a cap and rotor is pretty good service. I'd take a close look if I were you, especially with a high output ignition coil. The amount of ozone generated in the cap will be a lot higher at the higher spark voltage, and the erosion of the contacts will occur faster. Breakdown of the insulation and flashover are not far behind.
You might as well test the wires while you're at it. Interrmittenet missing is a symptom of weak spark under load. It is also a symptom of a lean mixture, but I'd check the ignition first.

yeah, i guess 25k is about the limit eh? hmmm the coil is just a napa ho.. istead of 30k that the stock on is its like 45...
edit- yeah i could believe lean mixture to at WOT... what rods and hanger you think i should bump up to?
just got the stock rods and an l hnager right now... i bent the hanger a little and it helped.. mayeb i should bend it a little more.. i have an extra so if its no good when i mess it up, then i'll throw the other one back in..

Sounds like you're running out of fuel...
Try this: Drive down the road, floor it, make it do what it does; once it has got pretty bad, shut the ignition off and take it out of gear WITHOUT LETTING THE ENGINE IDLE OR BE DRAGGED BY THE CAR so that it doesn't have a chance to refill the carb of on fact ot has run dry, and let it coast off to the side of the road (don't forget about the steering wheel lock and all that!!!); see if there's still gas in the carb, by checking with the accelerator pump, or whatever other means ar econvenient. I'd bet you won't get a solid squirt out of the pump.
If it turns out that you're fuel-starved, you may need a pump, or the pickup in the tank may be stopped up.

hmmm i might have to try that. i have a clear filter on it so i could check that too...
let me ask you guys this- the clear filter i have- it rarely gets filled, and once the motor is hot, it stays only about 1/4 filled, would this be any idication of a problem?
