From: out of my mind; be back in 5 minutes....
Car: 1989 Firebird Formula
Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
Some may (and probably will) say otherwise, but a rule I learned about them is, as long as they rattle when shaken (ie. not clogged or carboned up) they are fine. Of course preventative maintenance doesn't hurt...

Theyre so cheap id just pick something you have to do at semi-regular intervals (some form of fluid change or something) and just do it regularly even if it doesnt really need it....better safe then sorry

Yep; I change mine out once a year, part of the major tuneup... for something that cheap, might as well change it and forget about it.

I worked in lube shops for over 2 years as management, and now work at a buick dealership and have learned the PCV valve are recommended to be changed every 10k-12k miles, normally when you change the air filter.

Some of you may have already read the long, tedious story I have about significant problems with aftermarket PCV valves. Suffice it to say that I generally clean the PCV valve and inspect or replace the tubing at least once a year. If you cannot clean you valve to your satisfaction, at the very least, replace it with ONLY a genuine factory part - especially on speed-density EFI engines, like later TPIs, MPFIs, and TBIs. Air flow calibration through the PCV is critical to the SD systems' presumptions about intake air at a given MAP and TPS. Factory units are actually flow-tested in production (I worked for a company that made them for GM).
