all depends on your weight and your suspension. There are some nearly stock LT1s out there running mid/low 12s with nothing but suspension mods. They are putting way under 300hp to the rear wheels.

jim85iroc, I will be runing ever aftermaket bolt-on thing there is for the suspension.
And another ?, what would be the best way to do it. All motor, nos, or blower? and still keep it very drivable and some what good on gas.

Traction will make or break you. It takes alot more then power to run fast. Keeping an engine in its power band while being able to hook at the same time are eqaully important as hp numbers.
go all motor to the 12s......that way you know your motor can do the work.......then you can supercharge, turbocharge and know that your motor can take it. i would get some lighter wheels and some good rubber......cuz it is hard to hook up thirdgens when youve got the power to run 12s. good luck.

Look at it this way. Stock LS1 cars can run VERY low 13's on street tires, and some do hit 12's with only slicks. The typical LS1 camaro or firebird will weigh over 3600lbs without a driver and they have around 350hp and 380ft-lbs at the fw. A 3rdgen car will weigh alot less probably, especially if its been prepped for racing. As it is now, my '83 Z28 weighs around 3200lbs and has a basically stock weight engine (all iron 350 except intake) thats w/o driver BTW.
Now.. if your car has been prepped for racing (stripping accesories, dead weight, etc) it will weigh about the same as or less than mine, which is 400lbs less steel for the engine to move compared to an LS1 car.
So if you want to do 12.99 or faster, i would say you'd start at 400hp/400tq at the fw to get there, and only up to go faster.
They are right though, if you wanna hit low 12's, you will need around 475-500fwhp to gte you there.

It's going to be a daily driver with everthing(back seat, a/c, and stuff like that).
So I need alot of power, but whats the most effecent way to do it for a daily driver.
And thanks to everyone who has replied, you have been most helpful!!

The easiest and cheapest way would be to build
a 300hp 350cid engine and use a 100hp shot of nitrous.

but think if you have the cash to spend if you do build an all motor low-mid 12 second car then spraying would dip you into the 11's oooo now wouldnt that be fun.

for a daily driver, i'd say a mild 355 with a 144 blower on it. they make for a nice driving, nice idling, fairly inexpensive combo that has power at all rpm.

if done correctly, most certainly. you could probably even get a 305 into the 12's if it were well set up with a 144 blower.
California sucks my a$$. Nothing will pass smog. Nothing. Nothing fast anyway. I live here and my stock 305 TBI wouldnt pass, because my CAT was rotted.
Gotta love the Golden State.
