Engine disassembly help

Hey all, newbie here again. What is the best way To remove the pistons from the bore. Through the top or through the bottom? I am sending this engine out to the machine shop on Friday and would like to not break anything. I am sending the crank to the shop as well, so do I leave it installed? Or carry it separate? Thanks all..

Bill

Pistons out the top...not even sure they'll come out the bottom.

If you have any ring groove, best to remove it first

I'd suggest just taking the whole thing into them as-is.

Yup, out the top, feel for a ridge, remove if deep. The usual, attach small hoses to rod bolts. As for leaving the disassembly for the shop, ask about cost. Nobody does anything for nothing but might be worth the cost if unsure.

Thanks for the info. Also If I have to get the block bored over, how hard is it to swap the piston rods to new pistons?

Most likely you have press pin pistons. It's very difficult to remove the pins without breaking the piston without the right equipment. I left mine for the machine shop to swap.
