Good place to buy a stock replacement\rebuilt L98?

My engine block is cracked and I ran out of time and money to replace it this summer. I had to go to college and leave it at home. Does anyone know a good place to buy a stock replacement\rebuilt L98? I was also considering buying a stock replace corvette L98 because I like the idea of aluminum heads.

The reason I want a stock replacement\rebuilt L98 is because I am in college and low on $$$.

Thats not a stock replacement, that is $3400. By stock replacement I mean OEM parts or a rebuilt engine to OEM spec.

No such thing as a new STOCK replacement L98. Just 350 long/short blocks with various heads and cams. Unless you get one from the junk yard.

That engine is not suitable for fuel injection, the cam is weak and has only 109*LSA and low compression with 76CC heads.
With those rebuilt engines you get what you pay for or less, do a lot of research before getting one of them.

ok i have the catalog right here in front of me. i was wrong about the price it is actually $1,789.95 and it is a L98 long block with a hydrolic roller cam. according to this it is specificly for a 5.7 tpi direct recplacment with a 3 year 36,000 mile warrenty. the part number is 12465201.

one more thing. i know all about that gettin what you pay for, hence the reason i spent the extra money and got a zz4.

BADBIRD009, is that AC Delco engine the exact same as stock, if not can you give the specs. I can't seem to find any info on it anywhere.

Also does ac delco sell a stock replacement for the TPI corvette (thinking of getting that engine).

GM part # 12513151 is a complete engine. I has 9.6:1 comp ratio. Roller cam from the 89 IROC pm rods, same as the lt1, Hyper pistons, same as the lt1, Nodular crank ,same as the lt1, in a 2bolt l98 block. The heads are o.k. with some work would make good power. If you want the vette alum heads just buy them seperate. You can get used for 350-500$ or new for 900.00 dollars. Do some bowl and chamber work to them. work on the floor but mostly the roof of the intake runner and the will make some really good power. Oh the price I paid for this motor was 1490.00 befor tax. Hope this helps-Jeff

This is a Genuine Goodwrench motor.
The price I gave you is from12/18/01

Do not buy ACDelco reman engines, I have replaced many of them
that came apart shortly after I installed them. The dealership I work at will not even sell them, it's Goodwrench or nothing.

We won't sell them in our dealer group either. They are junk.

jeffsbluez,
Where did you get that engine for $1490?? Gmpartsdirect.com wants $1,856.

Also 12513151 is a "5.7L 350 91-93 Caprice TBI" replacement is it going to put out the same power as a stock camaro 350?

Just some obseravations here...it seems to me you think if you go with a "stock replacement" you're going to save money? No so, proably spend more...and end up with less.

I'd suggest you fnd a decent machineshop in your area, and tell'em what you want.

i/e, by the time you spend 1700/1800 for a longblock, and add shipping...you'll be well into 2grand. A machine shop can build a fairly nice engine for that price.

I bought locally. "Jones parts warehouse"
1335 Manheim pike P.O box4426 ,lancaster,PA 17604. Phone is 717-394-0711. I suggest you check your local gmperformanc parts dealer near you and pick it up there. Save the shipping money. The person I delt with is Don Garloff. I bought my motor 12/18/01. You are correct, it is for the caprice ie COP CAR, TAXI That is why it is has such a good bottom end. It has the same cam as the 88 or89 IROC. Can't remember. I swaped cam and heads, put a superram on tuned the cumputer and a few extras. It makes over 460lbft of torque and just shy of 380 hp at the ground! Have not run the car with the procharger yet. Still putting it on and my new command 950 box. Haven't decided if I am going to put a Stealth Ram on or not?
