A few weeks ago I was on the highway doing about 70mph with my dad following me. I put the pedal to the ground and (having a slow *** car like mine it didn't go anywhere) a puff of white smoke came out my dad said. White smoke is coolant right? I really never loose any coolant though. My dad could have been mistaken and it could have been blue. I dont loose any oil thoough I always check it and its never low. I do smoke at start up could this be related?
Any way, whether it blue or white what can be a possible cause? This was the only time I have known it to happen.

You have leaky valve seals. I have the same problem. When I mash on it smoke comes out of the exhaust. Also when I start it up after it has sat for a little while blue smoke comes out.

 

so its nothing to really worry about right now?

 

I have had mine for a little while am not too worried. I talk to someone on here a few months ago and said not to worry a ton but to not let it go for too long. How long I have no ides. I am not rough on my car at all, it has 60,000 miles on it and I dont race at all so I am expecting it to be ok till I have the money to get it fixed. Just keep an eye on your oil consumption between changes if it gets worse get it fixed. If you can do it yourself you are good to go other wise it will cost you about $300 or so to do it from what I have heard.

Yeah Im in Charlotte.
I have had smoke at start up for 4 years. I dont think it has gotten any worse and hopefully it wont until I can get it fixed. I really dont consume much oil at all though.

 

Out of curiosity, how much oil do you consume? My valve stem seals are leaky too (I get the exact same symptoms) and I lose about 3/4 quart every 3 months.

I loose about that much in about 4 months and that is driving about 3000 miles in that time. I dont think that is alot to loose, hope not any way. My parents and friends cars loose more than that in that time.
