oil pump recommendation
oil pump recommendation
My oil pressure stays around 25lbs no matter what the rpms are. I've replaced the sending unit to the gauge and still no luck, sometimes 20, sometimes 25lbs never anything over 30lbs. I pulled my plugs and looked at them and there is no evidence of oil. The engine runs great, just constant low pressure and this worries me. I think I should probably replace the oil pump since I have 150k+ on it. What is recommended for the LB9? Should I go with a high volume pump or what?

I don't think i would do that. The first thing you should have done is connect a mech. oil pressure gauge and confirm infact that you have low oil pressure. It may be a faulity gauge. But if you do have low oil pressure i would not use a high vol. oil pump. Just buy a stock Z-28 oil pump or a Moroso racing oil pump from Jeg's. Part #710-22100 $60.00!

Could be the pump's bypass spring or the filter bypass. Try the gauge first before you tear into the sucker though. Probably nothing worth worring about>>>> unless the gauge is good. Then I'd check the filter bypass, then the pump bypass spring.

after checking with a mechanical gauge you do in fact have low oil preasure i'd use the melling M55 pump with high preasure spring or the z28 pump.
