need help w/ new ecm asap-Moderators PLEASE

I just put a new ecm in my car that allowed it to run . Yet it runs like shi* I dont know why I used the prom from my old comp. I think the code its giving me is a 43 and a couple others . well a 43 is "esc circut is open or grounded , This causes a retard in the EST circut , may be caused by faulty MEM-CAL or ecm ." Well the ecm should be fine its brand new so whats the mem cal ? the car starts but chugs bad like timing is way off yet I started it once and it purred beautifully then it went back to the way it is now . need help badly e mail me call me I dont care Ive been without my baby for too long . ps I also read that the comp has to grounded or some thing but I wasnt about to try it in case I fried it thanks Q

We need to have some specific information on your vehicle and engine + any mods to be able to accurately diagnose the problem.

Why did you replace the ECM and did you work on anything else recently that could have lead to the current drivability problem?

The Mem-Cal is the Prom by the way. As for the grounds just be sure all of the grounds are still connected in the engine compartment.

This is just a stab in the dark but you could have a faulty electronic spark module, it is located on the drivers side firewall I am not sure how to check it though.

Q,

The Mem-Cal is the factory term for the PROM in the ECM. The ECM case needs to be solidly grounded to work properly. It should be grounded through its maounting and the wiring harness.

The EST module can be faulty, causing the ECM to retard spark. The EST itself could be bad, the knock sensor could be bad, or the wiring in the circuit could be faulty.

Try disconnecting the EST bypass connector and running it again.
