I may have really damaged my Iroc!! LONG
I was working on taking the LT1 out of a 96 parts car that I have, to swap it into the 86 Iroc. I had the hood up on the Iroc and was test fitting the LT1 radiator in it, only took a few minutes so I went back to the parts car and began taking some more parts off of it. About an hour later, I notice some smoke coming from the driver side rear of the 86. I had already removed the intake, heads, radiator etc from the 86 weeks ago because of a blown head gasket. I'm thinking WTF! I crawl under the rear and see some plastic had melted from the e brake cable and dropped down to the floor. The cable was hot and I was clueless about it so I go to the front of the car and see that I had knocked the positive battery cable back onto the battery and the ground was still bolted to the battery and the end was on the fender. The worst part was that I had left the key in the ignition and it was turned back so I could listen to the radio before removing the heads and intake. I checked the fuses under the dash and they were fine. What did I damage??

You probably only hurt the cable. In the future, only disconect the neg (-) battery cable, may prevent that from happening again...
