Water pumps and HP, Parts store cast iron vs Weiand ALuminum

I was wondering if aftermarket aluminum pumps were substantially more efficient than the parts store parasites (heheh)

ive heard rumors that aftermarket aluminum pumps can free up a few hp on the top end
i currently have a parts store cast iron pump but my 84 Z28 beater has a weiand aluminum pump and im thinking of swapping

anyone have any thoughts on this? (i know the weight is an issue but i would be doing this now mainly because im getting my car dynoed tomorrow and want to free up any hp i can )

I got a Stewart stage 1 iron pump... It supposedly takes less HP and flows more. I don't know about the HP, but it sure keeps the engine cooler. Probably 20-40 degrees... My car used to get up to 240 (fan ON), now it stays right near 180 (I have a 180 stat) except on the hottest days when it gets to around 200.
