cam help

i posted this in the TPI board and did not receive any replies, i was hoping someone in here could help me.

I have a hydraulic roller cam laying around that can be installed for free and i just want to know if it is too radical to be in a daily driver.
dur @ .050" 230*/230*
valve lift .480/.480
gross lift at cam .320/.320
rocker ratio 1.5-1
LSA 108*
its a speed pro p/n CS-1071R

It was too big to run for me now b/c I didnt have enough vacuum for my TBI, but soon I will be switching to TPI and I was hoping i would be able to put it in.

thanks in advance

i think you could handle it, but the 108 is a little small.. im not sure how it woudl work with the TPI set up, but im sure you could benefit from a higher stall converer.. should you install the cam

i have a 2800 stall. that is another reason i thought that the cam would be good because that puts me right into the powerband

Give Speed Pro a call and see what they think. They should be able to tell ya.

IMHO that much duration and the lobe separation are not for *most* street engines.

im not sure exactly what effect lobe separate degree has on performance or the characteristics of how the engine runs, but i believe(dont shoot me if im not right) that one effect it has is a lower idle vacuum. there was a Chevy High Performance mag. about a year ago that explained everything about cams and what is good to look for when shopping, if you want me to go find it ill get back to you with te issue. i think it said 'camtastic' on the cover. anyways, back to the topic. i think that the cam duration is good, and with the stall, u'll like it. the short lobe separation will give you a rough idle though, so ask some people(like some tech support from summit racing or something) about what they think.
