Timing Cover. Hyd Roller Lifter, Valve spring ?'s
i picked up a timing cover and it says 69-86, but it looks like my 89. Will it work? How long do hyd rollers lifters last? Mine have 80K on them (easy miles) and I'm putting in a .560 lift cam. Will it be ok? I also picked up .600 lift springs for my TF heads. Does it matter what side the spring is sitting on? both sides look the same. Thanks
if the timing cover looks the same why change it? if it's the same then it would interchange. most valve springs have no top or bottom, you's should work either way. if you don't see any physical damage to the lifters they should be reuseable.

I totally distroyed my old cover with cutting it and grinding it to get it to slide into the oilpan, but since the motor is getting pulled and I gtoa nice one from summit for 11 dollars, going to make it nice.

You might wanna search the timing chain cover thing a bit more. I did before I bought mine and read that a lot of guys that tried to use pre-86 timing chain covers on 87-later oil pans had fitment/sealing problems. Some of the said that that leaked pretty bad. I've heard that it's a slight difference where the front seal mates the pan to the cover. Since you already have the motor out, I'd hate to see you put everything back together just to have a leak and have to replace it again just because you already have an $11 dollar part. Anyway, here is the one that I order for mine, even though I haven't put it on yet.

I just did a head and cam change this weekend and I've had no leaks. What I did was loosen the oil pan, cut the original gasket at the front, use the new gasket that comes with the timing gasket kit, coat it all over with silicone sealant, tighten the timing cover then the oil pan, it should be ok this way. Like I said no leaks so far.
