Oil leak by the starter..main seal right?
Oil leak by the starter..main seal right?
I leak about a quart and a half of oil a month and it's ALL going on to the tubing that leads to the cat. I've always thought it was the main seal..but I looked closely..it looks like it's coming from where the starter attaches to the bellhousing..is that right? I could be imagineing things..is there any other place it could be leaking from? Thanks..
Also, does anyone know if Camaro Performer is a real magazine? I have only seen one..that's the one with the grey thirdgen on the front..I want to subscribe but I can never find any info on it and the super chevy website ignores the fact that they printed that magazine.

Look at the rear oil seal that goes around the crank. If this is bad, Oil will leak out onto the flywheel, and get thrown on that side of the Dustcover, that could cause It to Leak out near the starter.
Try this.
Take the dustcover Off, and Rev the motor In park. If the crank seal is leaking, You will soon see little speks of oil all over the driveway.
You can also peer up there with a flashlight and see pretty well where its coming from, but be really careful of that flywheel

The Camaro Performers magazine was a one-time thing. I don't know if they issue it every now and then, but it's not a regular magazine - once a month. I've been subscribed to Super Chevy for quite some time now, and it was the first one I ever saw.

Much more likely to be a valve cover or intake manifold leak than rear main seal.
