headlight/directional problems

This is Jim85IROC on Diecast's account. Anyway...

Dave tried to install the digital gauges I sold him, and had directional issues. With the headlights off, the directionals work ok, but as soon as you put the headlights on, the whole right side of the gauges whig out and the directional bulbs come on and stay on.

We pulled those gauges back out and reinstalled the stock ones, and it's doing the same thing. I cleaned up the headlight/parking lamp grounds on the radiator support, and now the directionals work with the headlights on, but the dash directional bulbs stay on with the headlights, and the right side gauges still tweak out.

I cleaned up the dash ground near the steering column and it made no difference.

Has anybody experienced this? I'm pulling my hair out and it's driving me nuts. I've spent two days under the dash and haven't found anything.

The right front turn signal bulb is in the socket wrong. It's touching both the tail light and turn signal contacts at the same time.

We'll give that a try, but since things worked fine until he pulled the old gauge cluster out, I don't have my hopes up that the bulb is going to be the problem.
