oil consumption

hi, i am having a problem with oil consumption. my motor has a fresh rebuild on it and it has about maybe 3,000 miles on it. whenever i floor it and at high rpms, i see like a white haze out the back. i checked my oil level and i was 2 1/2 quarts low. there is no external oil leaks and there is oil vapor around my pcv valve and on the valve cover where my breather is at. i checked the oil a couple of weeks ago also and it was 2 1/2 quarts low. i pulled my plugs and most had ash on them but a couple had more than others. does anybody have any ideas or answers. thanks

since it was 2.5 low twice my first thought is do you have the correct dip stick. puff of smoke under hard load isn't unusuall. did you break it in right? use synthetic? rings install right side up? bores with in spec? end gaps right?

i installed the rings with the dots pointing up, the machine shop checked the bores, i dont use synthetic and i didnt really beat on it the first 500 miles, just a couple wide open throttle runs. i checked the end gaps on all the rings when i put it together.

intake gasket leak, and are you sure it's the right dip stick? also was the grit correct on the stones to match the rings you used?

im not sure on the grit, i asked the shop and they said it was, this is the second intake gasket on it, it is maybe a month old, but it looks like it is soaked with oil already, how can i stop it from getting soaked with oil? im pretty sure its the right dipstick because when i put in 5 quarts when i change the oil, the stick says full.

if the intake gasket looks oil soaked then there maybe a leak there. did you have the heads milled?
