Differences between Canadian and American AC/Delco oil filters
Good Evening Gentlemen,
I have noticed something strange about the AC/Delco filters that i buy here in Canada. Just like many others on this site, i run the longer PF-1218 filter. however, all the AC/Delco filters i buy here in Canada have a "C" after the numbers, ie says on the side of the filter "PF-1218C". these are the regular AC/Delco filter. They are painted white as usual and they are stamped "Made in Canada". Ther "C" following the filter number is on all the AC/Delco filters up here...at least all that i have seen and i have purchased them at several different places.
Does anyone know what the "C" means? Could it be something as simple as designation that the filter is a "canadian" filter. Does anyone know if there is a difference between the filters i am buying up here in Ontario compared to the ones you guys get in the states?
i am running amsoil series 2000 synthetic oil and i want to make sure these AC/Delco filters are of the same high quality and provide the same high quality filtering as the regular AC/Delco filters available in the US.

thanks for the reply, Vader. i didnt realize the ones in the states were blue. i thought white was the colour for the regular filter. i have seen the blue ones before but i thought they were a special/upscale filter. the ones i buy here in Ontario dont come with boxes either and they also do not say duraguard on them.
if i had a US one, i would cut them both open to compare them.
this has me really puzzled now. i wonder if the filter i am using is as good the the AC one picture.

actually i have been doing some digging and research.
AC/Delco filters sold in Canada are made by Dana in Cambridge, Ontario. Dana owns Wix Filtration and therefore manufactures WIX filters, as well as the NAPA gold filters and the Carquest Premium filters. So it turns out the C on the end of the filter number actaully does indicate it is a Canadian filter.
From what i can tell, AC/Delco filters made in the states, ie the blue Duraguard filters are made by Champion labs.
lots of good info here:
