305 to 350?

Will the crank and rods of a post 87 roller 305 work in a post 87 roller 350 block?

i was under the impression that a 305 crank would not work in a 350 block because of the counterweights on 305 crank were designed for a 305, not a 350.

i think the rods will work, but often 305 rods are thinner/weaker, so they would not be the best choice.

My machine shop as well as many people on here have stated that 305 and 350 rods are the same.

Most 305 rods are thinner / weaker; and the crank (although the same casting as a 350) is balanced differently to match.

You can use the 305 crank and rods as an assembly in a 350, not to be mixed with 350 parts. Of course, you'll have a weaker motor even than a stock 350 short block, let alone anything good.
