If your only getting 2 mpg your in deep trouble. My guess is your gauge just moves alot when down that low. Fill it up then drive until you get low, see how much gas it takes to fill it back up and divide the gallons by the miles driven in that time, you will find out your true mileage.

I woudl say you have a leak. Get under the car check your tank, fittings, lines, fuel filter, if you changed any of this recently start there. Unfortunatly since gas evaporates and doesn't always leave a trail like oil you may have to put some more in and find it that way. I don't see how its possible to burn that much fuel.

The fuel delivery system is pretty straight forward. The MAF, TPS, even the O2 sensor all play a role in leaning out or richening up your fuel air ratio. I don't see any of these as a possible source. I also can't imagine that much fuel being dumped into your cylinders and burning. I mean 2 miles per gallon is ten times more fuel being consumed than normal, I don't think your engine would even run eating that much fuel. If I were you I would put more fuel in it carry a spare can test it again and see whats going on. If its still going through fuel and the possible leak areas have been assesed put it on a diagnostic machine and see what kind of readings you get. Sorry not much help. If you figure it out let me know, scratching my head
