How do you describe streetability?

What basic things does a car need to have to be considered "streetable?" I want to mod my car, but in the end I want a car, a finished product and not a hassle to drive on the street, or worse, a trailered strip only car.
I know about the basics: lowend torque, highway friendly gearing, noise and mpg considerations (for some, at least), reliability, but what am I missing? What pitfalls do people commonly face when building what they thought would be fun rides? I'm sure there's plenty of people out there whose homebuilt Frankensteins have turned out to be problematic. What advice do you have?
Thanks,
Homer

Hi stall Speeds
Low rearend gearing
Really Stiff Shifts in auto tranny's
**** poor gas milage
High compression Warranting Higher octane gas than you can get at the Pump ( 93 or 92 most places )
Overheating
Bad idle and High Idle speeds from a Big Cam
Lack of creature comforts IE gutting Your interior
No radio/AC/heater/ Ducting / Headlights / all that stuff You dont need at the track.
Missing Windsheild wipers and stuff like that
Open Headers
if its a drag car, Tires with less than adequat traction for Daily driving.
Um, basically anything That, For YOU, would be a Hassle to Deal with on a Daily Basis

Hey! Your just described my race car but it's not streetable.

Add on there:

Roll bar making getting in and out of the car a pain without a swingout bar and

5 point harness making reaching any dash controls almost impossible.

Best MPH on a time slip: 117.87
Best corrected MPH: 126.10
Best 60 foot: 1.662

Racing at 3500 feet elevation but most race days it's over 5000 feet density altitude!

To me,, it's not a street car if you can't,, or wouldn't want to drive it to the next town,, jump in it to go to the grocery,, or fill her up at the Amoco or Chevron. That's my opinion.
