Automatic Steering Column in Manual Camaro?

My steering column in my 84 5-speed Camaro is a piece of crap. I have a steering column to swap with but it is from an Automatic Camaro (same year). What should I do with the Cable on the steering column that connects to an automatic tranny/shifter?

Bump. Does anyone know? Can I just cut the cable off?

Actually you can remove it, but you dont have to cut it. I think that you can unbolt/unscrew it. I did that recently when I went with the 6 speed.

I hate to sound stupid but what cable? I just did the auto to 5 spd swap and I didn't do anything with the column. Is there something I should be unhooking?

You dont have to unhook it. It is just the cable that makes you put it in park to take the key out. With the console installed you cant see it and it doesnt do anything. I just took mine out because I took the column out to put in the pedals and I figured I might as well.
