305 Heads on 350

Well here is the scenario, my 305 tbi is junk so im going to go for the 9c1 lo5 goodwrench motor. But i had sr torquers ready to go on the 305 before it blew.. so is it possible to use the sr torquers with about a 55cc chamber on the 350 without a ridiculous comp. ratio??

Yup, go for it. Just wanna use dished pistons to keep the CR reasonable.

If the new 350short block has dished pistons, you'll be more than fine. this is even a desireable move from a performance standpoint.

if your new shortblock has flat top pistons, it is likely the piston deck height clearance when at TDC is pretty big (doesn't come all the way to the top.)
If it is .025" or more you'll again be fine. go for it.
use a Felpro composite .040" gasket.

Don't buy that motor...I did. It runs good and all but you have to replace everything or its a turd. The heads are crap (in your case it doesn't matter) and the cam is WORSE than the peanut cam.

.365''/.380'' lift. HA. Also it has 9.6:1 compression with 64cc heads. Your 305 world heads are gonna raise the compression quiet a bit. You may be ok tho. If you are gonna buy this motor and tear the heads off get a different camshaft to.

Or look for a shortblock somewhere.

Well i thought this motor came with the l98 cam.. like in the 9c1 cop cars, but anyway i have got the lt1 cam out of my old 305 to use.. maybe with 1.6 rockers down the road.. Now i know the motor has flat top pistons with 64cc heads with 9.6.1 comp. so going from the 64cc to 58 would yeild what kind of comp..? I would really like to use the flat tops since they will already be in the motor when i get it..

9.6 with 64cc chambers=roughly 10.2 with 58cc chambers(1cc=.1 roughly)

If your gonna run 10.2 on pump gas you will have to get a bigger cam to lower your dynamic compression ratio...probably something advertised in the 270-280 range.

They told me on the phone it had a l98 cam. They lied to me. I took a micrometer to the old cam and it is the tiny cam they now advertise.
