Timing Adjustments
It's been over a year since I have done this, and i cant believe i have forgotten this already. Is 6 BTDC above (towards the passenger side) of the 0 mark, or is it below it(drivers side)on the timing tab? And counter-clockwise on the distributor is advancing, right? I gotta set it at stock specs for my smog test.

Since the engine rotates clockwise as viewed from the front, advanced timing would occur sooner, or toward the passengers' side at the timing marks. The underhood VECI label should have the diagram and specifications. And yes, the distributor rotates clockwise as viewed from the top on SBCs, so advancing the timing would require turning it in the opposite direction.
