dads v-6 is whack-o(fan)
dads v-6 is whack-o(fan)
well, my dad's 91 was over heating.. fan wasnt coming on...no SES codes or anything related to CTS, etc.
SO, he brings me a fan motor and relay.....i threw them on without diagnosing anything....(dumb but he showed up with the parts and i thought he did the diagnosing)...so now i still donat have an operating fan for him. WHich sensor controls the fan operation? There is the "CTS" on the manifold and another "CTS" in driver side head. The D.S. head Im pretty sure is for the guage and i never new the manifold CTS to be the one for fan operation.
Also, on my Z, I have the "CTS" for the guage on the driver side head and another "secondary fan switch?" on the pass side head. This is for the second fan to kick on if Im not mistaken. One of my fans is ALWAYS on...so what controls what on both cars?? and why is my dads fan not coming on? I hard wired his fan so its on all the time for now to get him by the next xouple of days.
Also, evr sinc ei hard wired his fan, upon start up when the headlights were turned on, the "door open buzzer" sound stayed on and a few mins later the guages fuse blew and he lost his guages and guage lights....so he came back home and i re-checked everything, replaced the fuse and it was fine.....few hrs later, car dies...alternator crapped out. His battery was ancient so new battery and alternator However, the Volt guage was still reading low after new parts...like 8-10 volts...car ran fine so we said screw it for now....1.5 days later...DEAD AGAIN!! Maybee i got a bad alternator?? COincidence?? Im going to try another one and see if that corects the problem.....WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED???? I ran a wire from the fuse block "fan" to the fan and another from the other terminal on the fan to ground...pretty damn simple!!!

yeah passenger side head, between i think 6 and 8 cylenders is the switch, replace it and it will work. my brother had the same problem with his 86 with a single fan and after he replaced it , it worked again.
