What to torque oil pressure sending unit to and sealer questions
What are the torque specs for the oil pressure sending unit on a 92 camaro with a 305 tbi. It is the one above the oil filter. Also, are you supposed to put any sealer on the threads?
NPT: National Pipe Thread. It's a tapered thread so it gets tighter the further you screw it down.
Torque spec? Think: "sparkplug tight", not "gorilla tight." It doesn't take a whole lot to prevent a leak and you do NOT want to strip it out. Absolutely no way to get in there and repair it with the engine in the car. You can always start a little loose and tighten further if it's still "weepy."
If you have a new sender it should already come with some thread sealer applied right out of the box. Liquid teflon can be purchased just about anywhere you can buy engine assembly parts and tools. A good local auto parts shop, an engine shop, even from Summit and other mail order places
