BB,
The cam IS smog-legal in 50 states, provided it is installed in an otherwise unmodified LT4 engine with the correct PCM and programming. In other words, if the LT4 "Hot" cam comes connected to a '96 'Vette with a stock OBD II PCM, it's legal.
And "Hot" is somewhat of a misnomer - there are others that are "Hotter" and almost as legal. (Read between the lines - I'm glad there are no sniffers in my area, but I think I would pass anyway.)

I know people have passed the sniffer in CA just fine with an LT1 and the LT4 HOT cam, but I dont know anyone yet who has gone to the sniffer with one in a TPI engine. I just had mine smogged this month, and now I'm putting in this cam. I am good for two more years.
But I'm sure its fine.
