A/C cycling @ idle

Over the past week or so I have noticed my A/C cycling often during idle (like in traffic). Problem being, it cycles so much I am hardly getting any cold air. Now at speed the A/C works great. What could be the cause of this?

This is usually an indication of a low level of refrigerant in the system. You can try a quick/cheap fix and just add some refrigerant but if you have an actual leak it won't go away and the problem will likely return. That being said it is not uncommon for an older A/C system to lose a little refrigerant over time - especially in a climate that has extreme temperature changes (like here in MN, 90s in the summer, -90s in the winter ). The joints of the system have O-rings and gaskets that can allow some seapage of the pressure due to expansion and contraction over time.
