Have someone gently pulling up on the hood while you pull the release handle. Don't forget to lube everything before you shut it again hehe.

I once had that problem... there were two ways to get mine open.
1. Does the pull handle stay pulled back when you pull it, or snap back in? If it stays out, push it in and it may open.
2. Pull the handle like normal to open it, then walk to the front, and were the hood hangs over the headlight, grab the hood and lightly pull up. With the other hand, give the hood a firm smack right above the latch.

this must be a problem these cars have.
I just recently got mine working.
if when you pull the lever in the car is stays pulled out do like Air_Adam said. pull up on the hood above the lights. with mine I had to put a little force into it and pull it up hard several times befor it would open.
once you get the hood open the best ting to use on the latch is greese if you have some(like you would use on the greese fittings for the steering components).
I tryed wd-40 and silicone spray, but neather worked. the other day I put some greese all over the latch and my hood opens every time now.

There's the possibility that his cable may have snapped too.... To ask for him, are there any ways to trip the latch from laying under the car and reaching in front of the radiator or anything?

I have this problem as well. I pull the latch, and it goes right back in. I go to the hood, pull up and hear a little click.
If i give it a solid whack in the right spot and pull the latch again, it will usualy pop up.
If not, I get a friend to help me. I pull up and down on the hood (by the headlights) and have a friend pull the latch constantly very fast, and after a few seconds it will open.
I don't have any grease or anything, what type should I use?
(sorry to bring back this old post!)

I have never seen a Camaro yet that the hood just popped open! I have to tap on the hood with my fist in just the right spot EVERY time. I tried lubing and all that but it didnt do a damn thing.

I have adjusted the hood latch and bar that slids into the latch, and it seemed towork. I could open it and close it with no problem. I did it 4 times in a row just to make sure it would open, and it did with no problem.
BUT, the next time I go to open the hood (maybe a few days later), same old problem. That leaves me to believe that something is just sticking in there, and it's no the alignment (I did rear end someone, thats when my problems started...

All of my 3rd gens did this... there seems to be a sweet spot near the front middle that you bang with your fist and it pops open; even when I brought my car to my mechanic he did that trick! Must be a common thing lol

I've had it happen to me 2 or 3 times on my different cars. All of which were at the most inconvenient times or places. That's why I think I'm gonna go with 1/4 turn fastners (dzus) on my new hood when I get it.
I'd rather have stock, but I'm wanting to save weight and I won't have to worry about that bastard release failing me.
I feel your pain tho. It sucks.
