How to Remove Failed Roller Lifter?
How to Remove Failed Roller Lifter?
I believe the roller has failed and the pin holding the roller on has come part way out.(or something similar) When it is down in the bore it makes a rattling noise when turned but when I try to pull it out it comes up against something hard and won't budge. Looking for any possible fixes that don't require pulling the engine.

I have Edlebrock aluminum head and they machined them so you don't have to take the intake manifold off, just the valve cover and guide plate. If you have stock heads you have to remove everything and the intake manifold.

It's possible that varnish from the oil has gathered inside the lifter bore. I've had flat tappet lifters do that, and they were hard to get out. If you don't hear any metal to metal contact when trying to lift it, grab it with Vise-grips or something and yank it out. Otherwise it's tear down time because it will have to go out through the block.
