Air Dam questions

Ok, my Trans Am has no Air dam that hangs down in front of the radiator, so i go to the Dealer & get a air dam, then i go to install the part (doesn't even hang) and it is already installed. Ok so on the 84's is there supposed to be a hanging air dam, or is it supposed to be recessed out of site? Is it like, upper and then lower air dam or is there only 1?

I can't say for sure on an 84 T/A, but my 89RS has a one piece air dam that hangs down from the bottom of the radiator support.
