Budget 400SBC Buildup...
This summer, I will be building up my engine, but I am on a budget. Right now I make about $400 a month (part time, hey im 17). This summer I will work full time, so i will have more money. I will most likely remove my ECM because I can pas emissions without it. All I need for emissions is the stock air cleaner, heat riser pipe, and pass the sniffer test. Dotn worry about the air cleaner, though, it takes like 5 minutes to put on for inspection. Anyways, I need to know what is the best intake, carb, ignition sys, cam, heads, and other stuff to use. Heres my plan so far, but please tell me if there is something I can improve;
Intake: Weiand Stealth, Action+, or Edelbrock performer (which is best?)
Heads: Iron heads with mild porting & 2.02/1.6 valves
Cam: Summit cam kit K-1104 - .265/.265 228*/228* dur. with 112* separation. I want a lopey so can I go bigger & still have good vacuum?
Ignition: ???Vacuum HEI???
Carb: ???Vacuum Q-Jet???
Exhaust: Summit headers, no cats, dual flows exiting i nfront of the axle
I am shooting for about 300 Hp for now, because I dont want to break the tranny or rear.
