Quick pushrod question
Quick pushrod question
Im buying parts for new heads, and one of the things i got already was 1.6 roller tip rockers.
I am getting forged pushrods, the question is can i get stock length or should i get +0.1" longer pushrods ?

hmm.. that poses a problem... i need to drive the car, my friend and i were planning to do the head swap over a weekend... if i have to measure for pushrod length then i am assuming i need to install the heads then measure, and then i would have to order the pushrods ...crap =(
as a rule, but not all the time, changing rocker ratio won't need longer push rods. changing cam lift might, as a rule .050-.100 more lift= longer push rods. if you have no choice i'd run stock length and check it when you assemble it
the stock cam in that engine had these specs:
Camshaft lift: 0.390” / 0.410” Hydraulic
Duration @ 0.050”: 195° / 202°
I am using a Comp 262 grind right now
Comp Cam Kit 238 Grind: 262 Lift: .462"/.469"
Duration@ .50 218/224
Lobe Separation 110
rated RPM: 1300-5600
so thats 0.072 more lift on intake and 0.059 more on exhaust
... would it be safe to assume i need pushrods that are 0.05 longer?
Another quick question are the stock rods 3/8 or 5/16, i was assuming 5/16 since that is thinner.
