Pulleys 2 or 3 best setup
Pulleys 2 or 3 best setup
I'm wanting to put underdrive pulleys on my 92 305 Camaro it already has headers, chip openair cleaner no smog pump. Now i talked to a guy and he said that a 2pc. set is better than a 3pc. set. He told me that a three piece set will set eerything back like it already was unlike the two piece set that will only make the crank an alt. turn slower. Is this true any help will be appreciated.

Any reduction in pulley size is beneficial. Imagine spinning a rope with a heavy object (10lbs) attached 5 feet at the other end while you spin it around you (over your head). Give the rope 10 feet of slack, can you still turn it just as fast? What about at 1 foot? Easier huh? That's how pullies work, mind you, if the sizes aren't relative to each other some accessories could fail or not perform at optimum efficiency.

I've got the 2 piece set on my car and I didn't notice any improvement. I really don't think that you'd notice any difference with the more expensive 3 piece set either. Therefore, if you just have to have a set, I would recommend the less expensive 2 piece set.

I went with the three piece set but the on difference i noticed was that my alt. didn't charge as much. So i had to be careful when driving at night with my lights on because in a few cases, my car would shut off, and a few months later i had to replace the battery and the alt. I don't know if the pulleys had anything to do with killing it or not.
