Oil Pan Drain Plug Leak
I hit a huge rock and it hit the oil pan, now I get a real bad oil leak from the drain plug. Someone told me to use thread sealing tape. Would that be safe to use till I get the pan replaced?

This exact thing happen to a friend of mine. We bought an oversized drain plug and it was fine for a week until he had time to change the pan. When you change the pan I recommend getting the 1 piece from fel-pro.

why don't you just replace the gasket or use an o ring. thread seal tape won't do much with straight threads but i guess it'd be better than nothing. are you sure the leak is from the plug and not a crack somewhere near it

Yes, I loosened it then retightened the sucker and it does drip a lot less. I think it may leak more when it gets hot? I should tighten it when it's hot right?
