Could be a blown fuse. Did you check? Its with all the rest of the fueses. If the fuse is good use a test light at the connection on the fan itself with the heater in the on posistion and fan high it should have power. Check the ground there also. If it's grounded good and has power tap on the blower motor with a hammer to see if it kicks on. If not its probably bad, $35 from Azone.
Adrienne,
Welcome Aboard!
A little more diagnosis might help.
Does the blower run on any speed (even HIGH)?
Are there any other electrical problems with the car?
Have you checked the fuse? It's in the driver's footwell area, above the trim panel. However, the fuse is only used for the lower three speeds, which is why I asked about High.
Waiting for reply....

i had someone from an import shop look at it and he had no idea
even where the fan motor was or if there was a fuse for the fan under the hood....

no it does not work at all and yes i have no door locks , but other
than that she runs hot still! i found the fuse box, but, if i could stand on my head i could read which fuse is which!im still going to drive home tonight and freeze! :
Import guys? With no clue? Not surprised, are you?
Since the blower doesn't even work on HIGH, you might be able to disregard the fuse. Check for power at teh fan relay and fan motor connector itself.
This might help, but you'll have to provide the voltmeter:

The blower won't work on High with a blown fuse either, because the power to operate the relay comes from the fuse.
Does the A/C compressor work?
If it also doesn't come on, and the A/C fuse is good, try taking the A/C control head out of the dash, and following the brown wire that comes from the "mode" switch, which is the one that's on the selector lever, and goes back into the dash. About a foot or so from the control head you will find a connector of extremely stupid design. If you attempt to unplug it, you will find that it's burnt to ashes. Cut both halves of it off, and replace it with a LARGE HEAVY-DUTY pair of slide terminals. Don't use the regular little weenie ones, because they'll just burn up too like the factory one did.
I've had to repair 4 cars just in my own family that deveoped this problem; my 83, one of my brothers' 84 Z28, another brother's 87 Monte Carlo SS, and my mother's Celebrity. I'd say it's a pretty common problem.

Guys,
Got a real loud (high pitched) noise coming from my blower fan for heater. Is blower motor gone? If so, is it easy to replace, and reasonable?
82 Pontiac Firebird S/E 305
Thanks for your help.
