smells like gas
when i finish driving and i get out of my car it seems to have a smell of gas... not horribly pungent.. but rather noticable.. and i know that my friend's cars don't have this smell... and suggestions as to what it might be?
Do you visit Taco Bell more often than your friends?
Seriously, you should be able to find the source with a little detection. Try to find the area where the odor is strongest, and start there. The most obvious source would be a leak. Check for any apparent drips under the vehicle, like the fuel filter near the tank and the supply and return lines from the regulator.
Check under the hood as well, since fuel could be leaking above the intske and evaporating from engine heat before it drips. Check all fittings and connections. Since you have a TPI, you can remove the pilot vacuum line from the regulator and see it there is any fuel leakage from teh regulator. Check the injectors and cold start valve (injector) and supply tube as well.
You may also be detecting tank evaporation.
Check the 'O' ring on the fuel cap, and make sure the cap is tight. Check the hose connections at the evaporative canister.
Does the engine run normally otherwise? Any trouble codes or warning lamps?

Does it smell like raw or spent fuel? The answer to that determines where you should start looking.
