hello,

Ok I have a 89 L98, every couple of days all my lights and my stereo will turn off for a couple of seconds but they quickly come back on. it last happened last night, i was on the freeway and all my lights and stereo went off for a couple of seconds but they quickly came back on. It's like the battery gets disconnected because all the presets are lost on my stereo everytime it happens.

HELP!!

 

Probabally a bad connection on the battery. Check your grounds for any corrosion.

Would the engine shut off if the car lost power? Or can the engine run for awhile without a battery?

 

I will check connections when i get a chance, my engine keeps running when it happens...I'm not sure if engine dies when battery is disconnected

 

From what i understand the engine would still stay running without the battery. The main purpose of the battery is the start the car. While the car is running the alternator runs the car and charges the battery back up. Although someone correct me if im wrong.

 

if the engine dies when u unhook the battery cables, it means your alternator has took a crap on you. M84 has the right idea..

check connections to the alternator, striped wire...

are there any other symptons?
