If it's a stock cluster and the 88's are like the older ones the needle just presses down on the shaft. If you can get another needle at the junkyard you should be able to remove the broken part by pulling it off and then just push the new one on (make sure the needle points to the right spot).

If the needle has come off, you may need to have the speedo recalibrated if you wish it to read correctly.

Just put the needle on with superglue. I did it to my 85 and it worked fine. My needle was a hair above the first line on the dial when resting.

It sounds to me like you actually broke the metal shaft that the needle presses onto. That would suck. you could try the super glue, but I don't think it will last very long. If that is not the case and you just broke the plastic needle itself, super glue will work, but may look bad, in which case you can take the needle from another cluster. If you just pulled the needle off, press it back on, and remember that it will be off. For a reference, I read in a post a while back that 1000 rpm's into the speedo should make it read 60 MPH.

Good Luck!
