I have been having problems with my engine ever since I replaced my intake manifold gaskets. My engine revs slow and when I rev it and hold it around 4000rpm-5000rpm I can hear a loud pop in my intake. If I put my hand on my MAF I can actually feel it thump. I checked the timing, it was at 14 btdc. Before I replaced the gaskets The car was idling at 2500rpm and fuel was leaking into my oil. Now the car idles at 1000rpm. Any help would be great.

Try retarding your timing some. Stock is 6* BTDC I believe.

everything stock, except for a mirror that fell off

 

I retarded the timing, no change. Except the rpm its around 800rpm. Any other ideas?

If you hear popping it might be a valve sticking.

 

What are some more signs of a sticking valve?
