coldair or TB mounted?

I'm about to buy a K&N and I just want some advice. Which is better: 1)Making a custom cold air setup with a universal cone OR 2)The one they make to fit directly to the throttle body (pn: rc5000) Just wondering..I'm sure yall have some good opinions.

if you dont have speed density you cant use the tb filter.. and if you do why would you want to suck in hot air from the engine compartment? hot air doesnt make power, cold air does.. there are a lot of tech articles that show you how to make a homemade cold air setup. do that instead of the tb filter.

Read this and make your own decision. A while back, I had a K&N mounted on the front of my throttle body (TPI 305 at the time) and ran 6 times down the dragstrip, the best mph I could get was 86mph. I put the factory air ducting back on with K&N filters and had a buddy make me a set of "ram air" buckets, no other mods and the next trip down the track resulted in 94mph, NO OTHER CHANGES! The weather was very close on all of the runs, so that is not really a factor. The throttle body mounted filter looks good, but decide for yourself...
