Will this cam work with #882 heads

I want to use my comp cam 270* magnum cam with .470" lift on both sides and I was wondering Do I have to switch valve springs and rocker arms to allow the usage of this cam with the 882 heads. I know 882 heads suck but its just for alittle while until I can afford some nicer heads or have some 305 heads ported and polished. I have the cam and lifters already. So its alittle late to switch cams. So will it work or not.

i would run new springs ofcourse, check for bind and clearance, you know, the usual stuff....

the lift isnt too insane for the heads or anything, but you need to be sure the spring and the rest of the valve train are up to the task.

and i dont like using stock stamped steel rocker arms for anything... if you're a real cheapie, get some good roller tipped ones... otherwise get some nice roller rockers.

I'm gonna sound like a broken record here, but I'd dump the #882's before a cam swap, because a cam the 882s might like, your new heads might not like as much, for CR reasons, or flow reasons, or something.

They just arent worth the effort. I suggest looking for some pre-roller cam 305 heads at the boneyard. They will probably flow better and give you higher compression.

And 305 parts are almost always dirt cheap too.

It will work,,,,,but a head upgrade should be high on your wish list.

At the very least I would get new springs. You can find z28 springs on ebay cheap (not the best quality, but they'll work). You'll also need valvespring shims if removing the stock exhaust rotators.
