clicking sound when starting the car???

I have had this problem for a while, when I turn the key to start the car I just hear a click sound and the car won't start. When I let off the key and turn it again it sometimes starts, sometimes it clicks again. Usually after trying 5 times it will start. I have to go through this process about every 10 times I start the car. I bought a new starter and put it on, but it did the same thing so i took it back. If it is a starter problem, maybe I the one I bought was bad too? I am in no hurry as I have had the problem for months and it isn't getting noticably worse. Thanks for any help.

low voltage to the starter will make a click as you describe. Make sure your battery has enough amperage in it first off. I don't mean see if it has 12 volts, have someone load test it with a battery tester to see how many cranking amps it has. next suspect is the battery cables. check them for corrosion or rust and make sure they are tight. I bet one of these takes care of the problem.
