I read about this site in Car Craft.
Hope I may get some answers, too!
I blew the 2.8 in my 1985 Firebird.
I am going to go for a 3.4 swap. Why?
EMISSIONS!
No need to inform them of a better, larger, same looking engine.
I can get a running 3.4, complete, from the Bakersfield area, which is better than a car that was in LA traffic alot.
NOW.....
I know the engines will fit.
What I need to know is -
Sensors problems
ECM compatability (1985 ECM should I get the 1993 or 94 ECM).
I plan on taking the NEW timing chain from my 2.8 to replace the one on the used 3.4.
WHAT OTHER PROLBEMS MAY I RUN INTO?

i'd get the harness and ecm from the new engine. it'll make your life a lot easier than trying to make work what you have instead of using what does work.

This is what I understand, so far.

Keep both engines, side by side.
Swap sensors from old 2.8 to the 3.4, to work with my old harness and ECM.
I was told about in-tank fuel pump. Upgrade it.
The person at the yard, thought that was a odd answer.
