Metallic oil on new shortblock

So far all my oil changes on my new shortblock have had a metallic look to it. Want a few ideas on the cause. The block was blueprinted and the only spec that wasn't within tolerance was the rod side clearance, which was quite far off, don't remember the exact value but it was something like 5 thousanths tight. I asked on this before I finished building the remainder of the motor and most said that it could be from the new rods. Could this be the source? Also, don't know if this is related, but when I pulled the heads at 5k, there was still a crosshatch on all cylinder walls, is this normal. Thanks for any input.

how many times did you change the oil? did you use 30w during the initial break in? did you use assembly lube where necessary?

I have a motor with 11k on it and the crosshash is still visible, that is a good thing!

can you hear any unusual noise when the motor is running, or feel anything from turning it?

The oil has been changed 4-5 times, same look every time. Assembly lube on all bearings 75w-90 on cylinders and cam. 5w-30 on breakin primed before inital run. Short block sounds/feels normal, a little valvetrain noise but that started after a loose rocker @ ~3k.

send the oil out to be tested, only 20 dollars and you'll know what's in it and that may point you to where it came from.

Do you have any more info on this? Should I look local or is there a place over the net?

"something like 5 thousanths tight"

I don't know but tight doesn't sound good. Something tight is just gonna losen up and it could be what is going on.
That 5 tho tight is wearing away.

need to get a engine tech in here
