ok, i just got an 89 firebird, it's an automatic, 305tpi engine, 165k miles, i like it's look alot, i already know i'm putting remote entry, remote start, tint and a new paint job on it, but that's appearance, i need help with the workings of the car. what should i do to make it go faster but still be a car i can use for transportation not solely for racing (i.e. ripping out all the interior and such). I know this is a wide topic for discussion but if you could help me out it would mean alot. thanks a much

 

With 165K miles the first thing you need to do is rebuild the front end. I would do all my suspension and brake upgrades before I got started on making it faster. If it want handle well or stop it want matter how fast it is. After the suspension go with making the car faster then on to the apperance part of the deal.
