Heater box cleanout

If you have read my earlier post, you know that a ton of acorns have ended up in my heater box. Now I face the task of cleaning it up in the spring. I have been looking at assembly diagrmas of the heater box and I saw that it comes apart in many places, rather than just comming out in one piece. Based on your experiences, what is the best way to thoroughly clean the box? Is it necessary to take the entire thing out and apart, or would taking the vents and dashpad off, and sticking a shop vac in all of the holes while blowing air through with the blower motor suffice?

Thanks
