NO fuel getting to engine
NO fuel getting to engine
Okay, I have an 85 TA with TPI. The other day I changed my windshield washer pump and after that the car wouldn't start again. The problem is the fuel pump is not turning on. So I changed the relay, checked the fuses, and then changed the fuelpump itself. Still not starting. The car cranks and has a spark but the fuel pressure is none. My friends and I think it is probably a break in the line somewhere or the computer is dead. If anyone knows anything I would appreciate some advice.
ecm doesn't run the fuel pump. sounds like you screwed something up fixing the washer pump. fuel pump fuse on the fender good? have power to the pump? i'd look over my repair to the washer pump and poke around with a light and see where i have power or where i don't have power.

Sorry, the fuel pump IS ECM controlled.
Turn the ignition on, but dont start, pump should prime for about 2 seconds. On a quiet day, you should be able to hear it. Or, pull the gascap, and have a friend listen. If you dont hear the pump, check for power at the connector. (test light will work, but, this operation requires two people....)
If you have no power to the pump, check the fuse up by the battery. It is inline, little square feller. If the fuse is good, check for power at the relay. If you have power at the relay, start checking the harness from the relay, back to the pump.
I would guess that there is simply a bad connection by the relays, as they are right in the neighborhoood of the w/s wiper motor....
Good luck
