rocker arms question

When choosing a rocker arm for my soon to be engine build I see this:

SB-Chevy 1.5 Ratio 3/8''
SB-Chevy 1.6 Ratio 3/8''

theris 1.5's and 1.6's

who is nice enough to explain the difference? thanks!

haha, i guess its my night to help you out. 1.5 is standard length. the 1.6 ratio will increase the lift on the cam a little. when buying rockers get the full roller rockers, they free up some hp by reducing hp.

SB-Chevy 1.6 Ratio 3/8"
Item # 270-11807-16 1 x $179.99

do these look like a good candidate?

270-11807-16

type in that number to get the full details.
if increasing the ratio a bit isnt gonna hurt anything, why are they the same price as the 1.5's?

and i really appreciate your help tonight btw. Im really trying to figure out how imgonna build the engine. and I dont want to make any mistakes the first time around!

once agian. "Search"

1.5 or 1.6 is the ratio that the rocker arm increases the vavle lift of the cam.

1.5:1 or 1.6:1.

so a cam that lifts the vavle .500" w/ 1.5 rocker arms (standard), the came lobe only lifts the pushrod .333"

the rocker arm then increases the lift. so with a 1.5 rocker arm it is .500 with a 1.6 rocker arm it would be .533" lift.

obviously every cam is different.

most people find a little more power with 1.6 rockers than 1.5.

but roller rockers tend to make a big differnece.

but yeah... SEARCH

anyways, i found these self aligning rollers' with 1.5 Ratio 3/8" stud

i think i would rather use self alligning then guideplates.

you ought to be able to tell by looking that 1:5 or 1:6 is a ratio just like 4:56 is. 1.5 is factory sbc rocker ratio. the stud diameter is the diameter of the stud the rocker sits on.
