Tuning for NJ emissions (Testing to see if everything's kosher BEFORE I hit the dyno)
Hello,
As those of you who live in New Jersey know the emissions system here is an ever PITA, so how can I be sure that my emissions gear is working BEFORE I hop on the state's dyno? The car in question-which I hope to buy on Saturday-is an '88 (RS?) with a 5.0L TBI and TH700R4 trans. Are there any exhaust gas anylyzers on the market that aren't priced through the roof? Or, should I just do a detailed check (Make sure EGR valve is opening, air pump is functioning, etc...)?
Thanks,
Matthew C. Hall

Well, Im not sure how Nj is, but in Cali we can get a pre check for like 20 bucks, and figure out if were gonna pass or not.
If not, You get a printout of your emissions and why you failed, and Then you can go through and Fix it
