Problems after car has been sitting

I have neglected My Camaro for the past 5-6 months and was getting it ready to start up and be moved into the garage for the rest of the winter. Anyway I charge up the battery get it started but its quite sluggish and when I really hit the accelerator I get a lot of hesitation and a kind of metal clacking sound like clack clack clack clack and then it accelerates very poorly. Just this past summer it was running pretty good. Any ideas? What i should check or do? I realize this is pretty vague but have found lots of answers on this board over the past 2 years. I really want this car to last and want to have it ready to go in the summer thanks. BTW its a 91 V8 stick RS

thanks

Patrick

sounds like your fuel has gone bad over the sit...

be a good idea to flush it and change your fuel filter and check your plugs...

how long since a good tune up?

the metal clacking sound may be a valve chattering...

I was just thinking about the fuel when you posted this. I will flush it and change the filter. It's been a while since a good tuneup. Thats something I need to do.

Thanks hydric
