My cruise control hasn't worked since I had the car, and I really have no idea which part of it's broken. Any advice as far as what to check for would be appreciated.

(errmmm more details.. Cruise switch is set to on, I hit the little set/accel button on the side for a bit, but the cruise doesn't come on.)

everything stock, except for a mirror that fell off

 

try checking for vac leaks...my cruise didn't work either when i got my car and it ended up that the line that runs from the drivers side front to the distributor area and that little 3 way thing were missing...like 4 dollars later it works fine
